October 6 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian IT equipment vendor Most Computers said home users and small businesses account for 65% of Bulgaria's PC market and this trend will likely persist through the first half of 2010 given that there are no major public procurement deals in the pipeline, local media reported.
The local PC market is expected to post a decline of 25.5% in the first half of 2009 after shrinking by 36% on the year in the three-month period through June, trade publication ComputerWorld Bulgaria (www.computerworld.bg) reported on Monday, quoting data released during an annual trade event in Sofia organised by Most Computers.
No sales figures were immediately available.
The local notebook market contracted by an annual 41.8% in the second quarter, the server segment shrank 31% while the desk-top segment posted a drop of 31.3%, ComputerWorld Bulgaria said.
The market should post a 10% growth in the third and fourth quarter compared to the second quarter of 2009, ComputerWorld Bulgaria quoted Most Computers commercial director Emil Kirilov as saying.
Asus and Lenovo were the only companies to buck the sales decline, posting gains of 1.3% and 15%, respectively.
Asus is expected to keep its market-leading position in the third quarter ahead of HP and Acer, Kirilov added.
