February 4 (SeeNews) - A total of 36 foreign cruise ships made 208 journeys to Croatian seaports last year, up from 10 vessels that made 26 journeys in 2020 but still far below the pre-pandemic numbers of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
There were 193,911 passengers on board the cruise ships that visited Croatia in 2021, up from just 4,138 in the previous year, when the tightening of COVID-19 restrictions led to a drop in the number of passengers, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Compared to 2019, the number of journeys of foreign cruise vessels was lower by 71.3% in 2021, the total number of sojourns by 61.3% and the number of passengers on board those vessels by 82.7%.
In 2021, foreign cruise ships on journeys to Croatia visited the port of Dubrovnik 160 times, Split followed with 105 visits, Korcula with 57, Sibenik with 43 and Hvar with 41 visits.
