SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), October 2 (SeeNews) – Bosnia's Tuzla International Airport and Flydubai airline are considering linking the Tuzla Canton to destinations in the Middle East via a direct service to Dubai, the cantonal government has said.
The Bosnian airport and Dubai-based airline may also set up a joint venture to exploit Tuzla's potential in the field of air transport, the Cantonal government said in a statement over the weekend, following a meeting between the director of Tuzla airport, Rifat Karasalihovic, and flydubai CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith.
The main focus of the talks was Tuzla's potential in cargo transportation and food exports to the United Arab Emirates.
Flydubai already flies to Bosnia's capital Sarajevo.
At the end of last year, Tuzla Airport said it plans to increase passenger numbers to some 450,000 in 2017 with the aid of Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air.
Wizz Air runs a base with two aircraft in Tuzla, from where it serves 16 routes.
Tuzla is based in the Federation, one of the two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Serb Republic.
