June 22 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Etropole municipality said on Monday that it has awarded a 1.5 million levs ($862,000/767,000 euro) waste collection deal to local company FCC Bulgaria.
The contract envisages the collection of an estimated 3,200 tonnes of waste per year, Etropole municipality said in a notice.
The deal was signed on June 8.
FCC Bulgaria submitted the sole bid in the tender for the contract.
Last month, Bulgaria's Commission for Protection of Competition said that local company Waste Solutions is seeking approval to acquire FCC Bulgaria. According to registry agency data, Waste Solutions was set up in February with a registered capital of 2 levs ($1.1/1 euro). The company is fully owned by private individual Anton Stratiev.
FCC Bulgaria generated revenue of 29 million levs and a net profit of 1.7 million levs in 2018, according to its most recent annual financial statement. The company, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Austria-registered FCC Environment CEE, provides waste collection services in a number of cities in Bulgaria, including the capital Sofia.
In April, FCC Bulgaria signed a 5.6 million levs waste collection contract with Pleven municipality.
