February 6 (SeeNews) - A hydrogen valley project in Bulgaria is among nine pan-European projects to have been selected for funding by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership initiative, the EU public private partnership said.
The Bulgarian hydrogen valley, to be located near the south-central city of Stara Zagora, is one of seven small-scale hydrogen valleys, to produce at least 500 tonnes per year each, which were selected after the 2022 call for proposals, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership said in a statement last week. It stands to receive a grant of 8 million euro ($8.6 million), an amount which will also be awarded to another six projects located in Greece, Ireland, Italy, Turkey and Luxembourg.

The projects, which include a flagship initiative in the North Adriatic, will start negotiations with the aim of signing final grant agreements before the summer.
The Clean Hydrogen Partnership supports research and innovation in European hydrogen technologies under the Horizon Europe programme. Hydrogen valleys are regional ecosystems that link up hydrogen production and transportation to its various end uses, such as transportation or industrial feedstock. There are currently 25 European hydrogen valleys at different stages of development as part of the EU's Mission Innovation Hydrogen Valley Platform.
Last month, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership launched its 2023 call for proposals, making 195 million euro available for the development of clean hydrogen technologies.
