October 5 (SeeNews) - The European Commission (EC) said it is granting 56 million euro ($65 million) to Romania to support disadvantaged groups under the REACT-EU mechanism.
The funds will be invested to provide material support for disadvantaged groups, such as hot meals, assistance to disadvantaged children with school supplies and to disadvantaged mothers with essential kits for their newborn babies, the EC said in a press release on Monday.
Under the same package worth a total 2 billion euro, Italy, Spain and Luxembourg will receive funds for coronavirus vaccines, aid to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large-scale coronavirus testing, among others.
Recovery Assistance for Cohesion and the Territories in Europe (REACT-EU) is part of NextGenerationEU and provides 50.6 billion euro additional funding over the course of 2021 and 2022 to Cohesion Policy programmes.
