March 8 (SeeNews) - The European Commission said on Thursday it has decided to close the infringement proceedings against Croatian and Slovenia, among a number of other countries, that transposed the directive on antitrust damages actions into national law.
This directive helps citizens and companies claim damages if they are victims of infringements of EU antitrust rules, such as cartels or abuses of dominant market positions, and is thus an essential part of EU competition law enforcement, the EC explained in a statement.
Member states were under an obligation to transpose it into national law by December 27, 2016, however Croatia and Slovenia missed the deadline.
