June 3 (SeeNews) - The European Commission said that it has approved a 4.3 million euro ($4.6 million) Romanian funding scheme in support of airport operators affected by the coronavirus crisis.
The scheme was approved under the state aid temporary framework adopted by the Commission, the EU's executive body said in a press release on Thursday.
The public support will take the form of direct grants and aims at covering the losses the airport operators incurred between January and June 2022 and at helping them continue their activities during and after the pandemic.
The measure will be open to the airport operators managing the airports in Bacau, Craiova, Iasi, Sibiu, Suceava and Timisoara.
The aid will not exceed 2.3 million euro per beneficiary and will be granted no later than June 30, the Commission said.
