October 27 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Tuesday it is considering lending up to 12 million euro ($17.9 million) to the central Romanian city of Sfantu Gheorghe for a street rehabilitation and improvement of public lighting programme.
The total value of the project is 14.5 million euro, the EBRD said in a statement.
The loan is pending final approval by the EBRD board on July 6, 2010.
Street rehabilitation works may include renewal of asphalt and pavements, building new central pedestrian areas and upgrade of water and sewage pipelines along the streets.
Public and street lighting refurbishment will entail replacement of lighting fixtures, existing high pressure mercury-based lamps with energy-efficient technology, and installation of central lighting management system allowing lighting automation and control and energy monitoring.
