January 26 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Thursday that it provided 709 million euro ($773.1 million) of investments in Romania last year, compared to 546 million euro in 2021.
Last year marked EBRD's highest level of investment for Romania since 2009, when investments totalled 720 million euro, the bank said in a press release.
"The 2022 figures were achieved in the face of a challenging global economic environment in the wake of Russia’s war on Ukraine," the EBRD noted.
EBRD's investments in Romania's green economy amounted to 436 million euro last year, or 61% of all investments. Of the total investment pool, three quarters were allocated to entities in the private sector.
The EBRD also said that its active investment portfolio in Romania tops 2.5 billion euro.
