October 4 (SeeNews) - Dunapack Rambox, the Romanian unit of Austria's Dunapack Packaging Division, said on Thursday that it has started works on its second factory in Romania - an investment estimated at 45 million euro ($52 million).
The new corrugated packaging factory in Bolintin-Deal, near Bucharest, is scheduled to begin operating in June 2019 and will employ 150, Dunapack said in a press release.
The factory in Bolintin-Deal will ensure the production of high quality corrugated cardboard boxes, large industrial packaging for retail and e-commerce as well as a wide range of high quality packaging solutions.
"Romania has been and still is one of our key development markets. With the support of local authorities and all the resources at hand, we are pleased to take this major step into a growing, dynamic growth market," said Cord Prinzhorn, CEO of Dunapack Rambox owner Prinzhorn Group.
The new plant will be complementary to the existing Dunapack Rambox plant in Sfantu Gheorghe, Covasna county, which will undergo major upgrades, the company added.
The 27,000 sq m new plant will have a production capacity of 180 million sq m of packaging per year. Together, the two Dunapack Rambox plants will reach an annual production capacity of some 300 million sq m of packaging.
Dunapack announced the investment and upgrade plans in October last year.

In addition, due to the flexible configuration of the technical equipment, we have the ability to react quickly and efficiently to the new challenges in the industry," Dunapack Packaging CEO, Alexander Enzenberg, said.
At present, Dunapack Rambox has a portfolio of over 500 local customers covering all major industrial sectors.
Dunapack Packaging is part of the Prinzhorn Group of Companies, which has 6,600 employees in 15 countries and is among the European market leaders in the packaging, paper and recycling industry.
