PODGORICA (Montenegro), November 9 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's government has approved the transfer of a concession for the operation of the Bijela shipyard to a consortium of local marina operator Adriatic Marinas and Dubai-based Drydocks World, it said.
The government has approved the transfer of rights and obligations and the concession agreement to the Adriatic Marinas-Drydocks World tie-up from a consortium comprising Adriatic Marinas and Dutch-based Damen Shipyards Group, it said in a statement on Friday.
Damen and Drydocks World will become jointly liable for all obligations under the Bijela shipyard concession agreement, the government added.
In November 2018, Montenegro's government granted a 30-year concession contract for the operation of the Bijela shipyard to a consortium of Adriatic Marinas and Damen Shipyards Group.
Back then, the government said the consortium plans to invest 20 million euro ($23.7 million) in the development of a facility for repair of luxury yachts on the premises of the Bijela shipyard, which will allow the opening of new jobs and will supplement the nautical tourism offer of Montenegro.
