June 1 (SeeNews) - Croatian food and pharmaceuticals company Podravka [ZSE:PODR] said on Thursday that it has invested some 5 million euro ($5.4 million) in a new production line for bread at the Vic bakery in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana as part of the restructuring process of its Slovenian unit, food company Zito.
The new line, which has a capacity of up to 2,400 pieces of bread per hour, will be put into operation this month and its products will be available on the market in the second half of July, Podravka said in a press release.
The new line has low energy consumption and is expected to help reduce maintenance costs by 20%.
Further investments in the upgrade of the production facility in Maribor, in northeastern Slovenia, are under way, including in a new automated line and expansion of the warehouse capacity for frozen products, the CEO of Podravka, Martina Dalic, said in the press release.
Podravka’s shares traded 1.70% higher at 101.50 euro intraday on Thursday on the Zagreb bourse.
