April 8 (SeeNews) - Croatian drug maker Genera, a subsidiary of UK veterinary pharmaceuticals firm Dechra, plans to expand its existing 1.5 MW roof solar power plant by adding 2.0 MW ground-mounted capacity, the economy ministry said.

Genera has submitted a request for an environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the expansion project, the ministry said in a statement.

The plant will be built on a land plot of 212,106 square metres near the company’s manufacturing facility in Sveta Nedelja near Zagreb. The electricity produced in the new plant will cover its own needs.

Thanks to the expansion, a further 2,200,000 kWh will be produced annually, boosting the overall electricity production of Genera on that location to 3,735,585 kWh.

In September 2019, Genera officially opened the solar power plant on the roof of its manufacturing facility following an 1.3 million British pounds ($1.6 million/1.5 million euro) investment.

In 2015, Dechra took control of Genera, which is the oldest and largest manufacturer of animal health products in Croatia. It also has a large market share in the neighbouring countries.
