September 3 (SeeNews) - Croatian state-owned gas transmission system operator Plinacro said it has signed a 8.2 million euro ($9.5 million) contract with Romania’s Euro Gas Systems S.R.L. (EGS) for the delivery of the first compressor station (KS1) on the Croatian gas transport system.
"The two companies signed an agreement on the delivery, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the main equipment (three compressor units) for the first compressor station," Plinacro said in a statement on Friday, adding that EGS was the most successful bidder in an international tender for the project.
The compressor station, with a maximum power of 4.2 MW, will be built in the region of Moslavina and is expected to start compressing natural gas during a trial period in the third quarter of 2019.
Once completed, the compressor station will improve Croatia's security of gas supply by improving the management of the existing transport capacities and allowing for their rational increase according to the needs of the market.
