August 7 (SeeNews) - Sales of new passenger cars in Croatia fell 17% year-on-year in July, to 5,132, market research agency Promocija Plus said.
On a monthly comparison basis, however, new car sales rose 24% in July, Promocija Plus said in an emailed statement on Thursday.
In the first seven months of 2020, new car sales in Croatia fell 49% on the year to 22,568.
Volkswagen was the top-selling brand in the country of some 4.2 million people with 721 vehicles sold in July, up from 575 in June.
Skoda was the runner-up with 639 cars sold in July, up from June's 470. Renault ranked third with 540 sold vehicles, down from 668 in June.
The best-selling car models in Croatia in July were Skoda Octavia, of which 328 cars were sold, followed by Volkswagen Polo with 202 sold cars and Renault Clio with 195 sold cars.
In 2019, Volkswagen was the most popular brand in Croatia with a total of 8,481 cars sold, followed by Skoda with 5,873 and Renault with 5,807.
