December 8 (SeeNews) - Croatia's real economy expanded by an annual 5.5% in the third quarter of 2022, which was the largest increase among the five EU member states from Southeast Europe (SEE) and more than double the EU average, the EU's statistical office said.
Compared to the previous quarter, Slovenia's gross domestic product (GDP) shrank at the third-sharpest rate among the SEE countries in the EU in the July-September period, by 1.4%, preceded only by Estonia with 1.8% and Latvia with 1.7%, according to data from a Eurostat quarterly report issued on Wednesday.
Elsewhere in SEE, Romania recorded one of the highest quarterly GDP increases in the bloc, of 1.3% - as much as Cyprus and Malta, and preceded only by Ireland with 2.3%.
"Based on seasonally adjusted figures, GDP volumes in the euro area and EU were 2.2% and 2.8% respectively above the level recorded in the fourth quarter of 2019, before the COVID-19 outbreak," Eurostat said.
