- The European Anti-fraud Office (OLAF) has been analysing reports on corruption in Croatian state-owned enterprises. OLAF Director General Franz-Hermann Bruner apparently received a letter from several MEPs earlier this year, alerting him about alleged corruption practices in public procurement procedures in Croatia which included the road and ship building sectors. The OLAF probe is mainly focused on motorway builders/operators Croatian Motorways and Rijeka-Zagreb Motorway and on the state-owned shipyards.
- The Croatian central bank recently bought from banks 154 million euro at an average rate of 7.258708 Croatian kuna per euro. It was the central bank's fifth intervention so far this year to prop up the kuna.
POSLOVNI
- Croatian company Amplitudo, Poland's Global Trade Center and Austria's BOP Immodevelopment are investing a combined 195 million euro in three shopping centers in Croatian city Osijek. The projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
