December 29 (SeeNews) - A consortium of Chinese companies China Energy Engineering Group Jiangsu Power Design Institute and Sumec Complete Equipment and Engineering will carry out a 522.6 million kuna ($78 million/69 million euro) project to install waste water treatment equipment in the Croatian Adriatic town of Rijeka, the Rijeka town authorities said.
The consortium signed a deal for the project with Rijeka's water utility company KD Vodovod I Kanalizacija on Tuesday, the Rijeka town authorities said in a press release on its website.
The works are due to be completed in four years.
The new equipment will have a treatment capacity covering the needs of 200,000 residents and maximum flow of 1,000 litres per second.
The deal is part of a 1.76 billion kuna project to improv Rijeka's water supply and waste water treatment infrastructure. The European Union will finance up to 71.33% of the costs. The rest will be covered by Croatian national funds, while Vodovod I Kanalizacija will participate in it with 134.7 million kuna.
