May 27 (SeeNews) - Canadian private school network Maple Bear said on Wednesday it will open two kindergartens in Romania's northwestern city of Cluj-Napoca for the academic year 2020/2021.
The two kindergartens will be able to receive 220 children and will follow the Canadian bilingual educational methodology while fully complying with national educational requirements, Maple Bear said in a press release.
"We continue our development plans in Romania, even in this difficult period, with the support of our strong network. Currently, Maple Bear schools and kindergartens have completed procedures for restarting activity and returning to class," Maple Bear CEO for Central and Eastern Europe Yann Bidan said.
Maple Bear confirmed its 2018 plans to open at least 10 early childhood and elementary schools in Romania and a total 50 across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
The first Maple Bear franchise in Romania was opened last year in the central city of Sibiu.
Maple Bear has over 450 educational units, from kindergartens to high schools, in 22 countries with a total of 45,000 students.
Romania's president Klaus Iohannis announced on April 27 that kindergartens, schools and universities will not reopen during this academic year and that classes will be attended online, due to the coronavirus outbreak.
