August 21 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s power output rose by an annual 3.64% to 28,019 GWh in the period January 1 – August 13, according to data of the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).
Electricity consumption increased by 6.25% on the year to 24,788 GWh during the review period, data published on the ESO website shows.
Power exports fell 12.80% year-on-year to 3,231 GWh in the period under review. Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
Renewable energy in the transmission system increased by 10.18% on the year to 798,588 MWh in the January 1 – August 13 period, while renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 2.64% to 1,184,724 MWh.
