June 28 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian gas retailer Overgas said that it will extend the gas network system in the Bulgarian city of Ruse, on the Danube, by an additional 2 km in 2019.
The extension of the existing gas supply infrastructure in Ruse will increase its length to 134 km, Overgas said in a statement on Thursday.
The extended gas network will service 200 more households in the region, the company added.
According to Overgas, major air pollutants in Ruse are decreasing by 1,000 tonnes annually due to households using natural gas.
Sofia-based Overgas, founded in 1991, has a total of 2,400 km of natural gas distribution pipelines and services over 250,000 households in the country, according to data published on its website. The company has invested over 320 million euro ($364 million) in the construction of distribution pipelines to date.
Bulgaria imports almost all the natural gas it needs from Russia through a pipeline crossing the territories of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.
