May 2 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Kozloduy nuclear power plant said on Wednesday that it has signed a 27.1 million levs ($16.6 million/ 13.9 million euro) deal with local Atomenergoremont for carrying out part of planned annual maintenance works on the plant's operational units.
The contract was signed on April 17, Kozloduy said in a public procurement notice.
Atomenergoremont was the only company which submitted an offer in the public procurement procedure for awarding the contract, according to the notice.
NPP Kozloduy shut down its Unit 5 for planned annual maintenance on April 21. The works are expected to be completed by end-May.
The power plant's Unit 6 is currently operating at 104% capacity, following the successful completion of a project for increasing the unit's capacity.
Kozloduy NPP has two operational units - Units 5 and 6 - of 1,000 MW each. The plant's four other units, of 440 MW each, were closed down to address nuclear safety concerns of the European Union prior to Bulgaria's accession to the bloc in 2007.
