January 24 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian fertiliser producer Neochim [BUL:NEOH] said that it has identified a new technical issue at its ammonia manufacturing unit, whose operations were halted earlier this month.
The new issue is preventing the safe commissioning of the facility, Neochim said in a bourse filing on Monday.
The company suspended operations at the ammonia unit on January 9 due to an emergency issue. While working to eliminate the established problems, Neochim conducted a test in another part of the facility. As a result, the firm identified on January 20 a leak from a heat exchanger pipe. After cooling the steam system, Neochim detected on January 23 hard deposits, which are preventing the safe start-up of the installation, it said.
The latest issue comes after a series of manufacturing disruptions at the company’s ammonia and nitric acid production units over the past months.
As at CET 0955 on Tuesday, shares in Neochim traded flat at 40.40 levs on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
