March 24 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian state-owned dairy producer LB Bulgaricum and Japanese pharma and food company Meiji Holdings Co signed a letter of intent (LoI) to establish a research centre to develop innovative dairy and other products, Bulgaria’s economy ministry said.
The centre will be focused on dairy and other products containing the Lactobacillus bulgaricus bacteria, which are naturally found in Bulgarian yoghurt and have probiotic properties, the economy ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
According to its website, Meiji received a licence to use the name Bulgarian yoghurt for its dairy product in 1972.
