November 20 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's sole nuclear power plant (NPP) Kozloduy said on Wednesday that it has invited US-based Westinghouse Electric Company to upgrade its Ovation information and control system for an estimated 63.5 million levs ($35.9 million/32.7 million euro).
The assignment envisages the migration of the current Ovation I&C system of the power plant's functioning 1,000 MW units 5 and 6 to the more advanced Ovation Safety Instrumented System in order to extend the operational capacity of the system until 2042 and integrate new functionalities, NPP Kozloduy said in a notice.
NPP Kozloduy is inviting Westinghouse Electric Company to do the job without launching a public procurement procedure as the company is exclusive and sole supplier of products and solutions of Ovation platform for nuclear power plants worldwide under an agreement signed with their U.S. manufacturer Emerson Process Management, the notice reads.
Westinghouse Electric Company provides a wide range of nuclear power plant products and services to utilities throughout the world, according to data published on company's website.
