SOFIA (Bulgaria), June 6 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria’s jobless rate fell by 0.42 percentage points month-on-month to 8.87% in May, official data of the government’s Employment Agency showed on Monday.
In May 2010, the official unemployment rate in the country was 9.53%.
A total 328,533 unemployed were registered with unemployment offices at the end of May, down by 15,565 from the end of April, the agency said in a statement.
The number of people who found a job in May totalled 20,139, whereas job vacancies reached 6,769.
A total of 12,553 jobs were created last month.
Bulgaria, which joined the European Union in 2007, has a population of 7.4 million. The country’s official unemployment rate was 9.24% at the end of last year.
