March 30 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's general industrial producer price index (PPI) went up by 8.9% on the year in February, following a 16.8% rise in January, the statistical office said on Thursday.
On a monthly comparison basis, the PPI fell by 5.9% in February, mainly due to a 17% drop in prices in the sector of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report.
Producer prices on the domestic market increased by an annual 9.7% in the review month after adding 19.1% in January. The increase in February was chiefly due to a 16.5% rise in manufacturing prices. Producer prices on the non-domestic market grew by 7.3% year-on-year in February.
In annual terms, the most compelling price increases in Bulgaria's manufacturing industry were registered in other non-metallic mineral products - by 27.2% and in the manufacture of food products - by 23.1%. Domestic producer prices in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products went up by 31.9% on the year.
