April 14 (SeeNews) - The average annual household income per capita in Bulgaria increased by 10% year-on-year to 7,705 levs ($4,300/3,900 euro) in 2021, the statistical office said on Thursday.
Wages and salaries accounted for 56.8% of total household income last year, up by 0.7 percentage points (pp) on an annual comparison basis, followed by pensions and self-employment income with 30% and 5.2%, respectively, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The average annual household expenditure per capita in Bulgaria was 13.2% higher year-on-year in 2021, at 7,042 levs, the NSI said.
Consumer expenditure per capita totalled 5,788 levs last year, accounting for 82.2% of total household expenditure. Expenditures for food and non-alcoholic beverages accounted for a further 29.2% of the total, followed by housing, water, electricity and fuels for household use with 13.8%.
