April 18 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian electric power distributor Electrodistribution North, a unit of local power utility Energo-Pro Varna, plans to invest 13 million levs ($7.2 million/6.6 million euro) in the electricity grid of Varna region, in the eastern part of the country, the company's parent said on Monday.
These funds will be invested in the construction of new power infrastructure and the rehabilitation of existing power networks in the region, Energo-Pro Varna said in an e-mailed statement.
According to the statement, Electrodistribution North invested nearly 18 million levs in the power grid of Varna region in 2021.
The license territory of Electrodistribution North is nearly 30,000 sq km and covers nine districts in the northeastern part of Bulgaria - Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Razgrad, Ruse, Silistra, Targovishte, and Shumen. Electrodistribution North operates and maintains an electricity distribution grid with a total length of 42,526 km and 26 substations, according to information published on the company's website.
Energo-Pro Varna is part of Czech power utility Energo-Pro. The company serves about 1.2 million customers in nine regions of northeastern Bulgaria.
