SOFIA (Bulgaria), June 19 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria's current account showed a deficit of 201.6 million euro ($232.8 million) in the first four months of 2018, compared to a deficit of 183.5 million euro in the same period of 2017, the central bank said on Tuesday.
The current account deficit was equivalent to 0.4% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) in January-April, compared to a deficit of 0.4% of GDP in the prior-year period, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement.
Bulgaria's trade balance recorded a deficit of 1.15 billion euro in the first four months, or 2.2% of GDP, as compared to a trade deficit of 869.3 million euro, or 1.7% of GDP, in the like period of last year.
Exports grew 4.8% year-on-year in January-April period, while imports expanded 7.5%.

Bulgaria closed 2017 with a current account surplus of 1.98 billion euro, compared to a surplus of 1.8 billion euro in the previous year.
