July 10 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian state-owned railway company BDZ Passengers said that it expects to receive the first repaired locomotives under its contracts with Slovakia's ZOS Vrutky and the Czech-led tie-up Rail Services by the end of 2020.
BDZ Passengers has already sent the first locomotives for repair under the two contracts and is due to shortly send another two locomotives, it said in a statement on Thursday.
Each of the two deals envisages the repair of 10 locomotives.
BDZ Passengers first signed a 23.4 million levs ($13.3 million/12 million euro) deal for the overhaul of 10 electric locomotives with the tie-up led by Czech-based Ceskomoravska Zeleznicni Opravna in December 2019. Ceskomoravska Zeleznicni Opravna holds an 83% stake in the tie-up, while Bulgaria’s TBD-Tovarni Prevozi owns 17%, according to registry agency data.
The 16.5 million levs deal with ZOS Vrutky was signed in April.
In May, BDZ Passengers signed a 55.5 million levs deal for the purchase of 10 new electric locomotives from a tie-up between Siemens Mobility Austria and Siemens Mobility Bulgaria. The first locomotive will be delivered within 10 months of the signing of the contract, while all 10 must be delivered within 13 months.
