March 24 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian railway company BDZ Passengers said on Wednesday that it has received and put into operation the second of 20 electric locomotives due to be overhauled.
Although the measures aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19 have caused a delay in the initial delivery plans, BDZ expects to receive more overhauled locomotives in each of the remaining nine months of this year, it said in a statement.
Last year, BDZ Passengers signed a 16.5 million levs ($9.1 million/8.4 million euro) contract for the overhaul of 10 electric locomotives with Slovakia's ZOS Vrutky, as well as a 23.4 million levs deal for the overhaul of another 10 electric locomotives with Consortium Railway Services. Consortium Railway Services comprises Czech-based Ceskomoravska Zeleznicni Opravna, which holds an 83% stake, and Bulgaria’s TBD-Tovarni Prevozi.
BDZ Passengers is part of state-owned railway group BDZ Holding.
