January 12 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian railway company BDZ Passengers said that it has received and put into operating the first of 20 electric locomotives due to be overhauled.
BDZ Passengers expects to receive one more overhauled locomotive by the end of January, it said in a statement.
Last year, BDZ Passengers signed a 16.5 million levs ($9.1 million/8.4 million euro) contract for the overhaul of 10 electric locomotives with Slovakia's ZOS Vrutky, as well as a 23.4 million levs deal for the overhaul of another 10 electric locomotives with Consortium Railway Services.
Consortium Railway Services comprises Czech-based Ceskomoravska Zeleznicni Opravna, which holds an 83% stake, and Bulgaria’s TBD-Tovarni Prevozi.
BDZ Passengers is part of state-owned railway group BDZ Holding.
