July 18 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian forklift manufacturer Balkancar Record plans to open a production plant in the Russian region of Chelyabinsk, Russian media reported.
The company intends to manufacture forklift trucks powered by diesel and electric engines in the new plant in the city of Miass, state-run news agency TASS quoted Ruslan Gattarov, deputy governor of Chelyabinsk Region, as saying last week.
Localisation of production is very appropriate in view of recently increased recycling fees on imports of forklift trucks in Russia, Gattarov explained.
The amount of the investment in the project, to be developed at the site of an existing machine building plant in Miass, cannot not be disclosed as the project is still in an early stage, with a decision on the degree of localisation of production yet to be made, Gattarov added.
Balkancar Record was founded in 1950. It manufactures forklift trucks, electric platforms and tow tractors.
