January 24 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's government expects average annual inflation of 5 to 6% in 2022, finance minister Assen Vassilev said.
"We expect a pro-inflationary environment in 2022, which has been indicated by both the European Central Bank and the US Federal Reserve. We are moving in the range of 5-6-7%, up to a maximum of 8% ", Vassilev said in a video file published on the website of public television BNT on Sunday.
Vassilev added that he does not forecast an inflation rate higher than 10%.
Last week, the National Statistical Institute said that Bulgaria's consumer prices rose by 7.8% year-on-year in December following an annual increase of 7.3% in November. The average annual inflation rate in 2021 was 3.3%, the statistical office said in its monthly inflation report.
