June 27 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian government said it has approved the provision of an additional package of military aid to Ukraine, in line with a decision adopted by the previous Bulgarian parliament last year.
The additional aid approved last Friday is commensurate in scope with the initial assistance package which the former caretaker government decided to provide in late December, the cabinet said in a press release on Monday.
The provision of this additional assistance will not contravene the norms relating to the Bulgarian Armed Forces' operational stocks of weaponry as well as their training and combat capabilities, the government said, without disclosing details.
In May 2022, three months after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, the previous Bulgarian parliament decided to provide repair services for Ukrainian military equipment. This was followed by a decision to send military aid to Ukraine, which excluded heavy weapons and fighter jets.
