December 9 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian parliament on Friday approved the specific type of military aid which the country will send to Ukraine, it said.
The list, which is classified, does not include heavy arms and fighter jets, caretaker defence minister Dimitar Stoyanov said.
The parliament also voted to allow participation of Bulgarian military personnel in training missions of the European Union Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM), video footage from parliament broadcast by public radio BNR showed.
Bulgaria will not send to Ukraine Soviet-made S-300 missile systems, MiG-29 fighter aircraft or Su-25 military aircraft, Stoyanov said in a separate statement.
Ukraine has previously asked Bulgaria for military aid on several occasions, including for the country to send its ageing Soviet-made aircraft, which it has decided to replace with 16 US-made F-16 jets.
Last week, economy minister Nikola Stoyanov told local media that the proposed aid comprises light firearms and ammunition.
Bulgarian lawmakers voted last month to approve in principle a decision to provide military aid to Ukraine, for the first time since that country was invaded by Russia in February.
Since the start of the war, Bulgaria had only agreed to despatch humanitarian and military logistical assistance to Ukraine.
