Тhe European Commission warned it may impose a fine on Bulgaria for freezing the acquisition after the caretaker government ousted ESO’s board of directors on May 27.
To date, NEK has run up a debt of 1.9 billion levs ($1.3 billion/1 billion euro) and potential fines will further worsen its financial situation.
