November 30 (SeeNews) - The combined net profit of the banks operating in Bulgaria increased to 1.38 billion levs ($800.0 million/705.6 million euro) in the January-October period of 2018, from 1.0 billion in the same period a year earlier, the country's central bank said on Friday.
Interest income of Bulgarian banks edged down to 2.52 billion levs in the first ten months of the year from 2.55 billion levs in the like period of 2017, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a regular report on the performance of the country's banks.
Fee and commission income rose to 1.03 billion levs in the period under review from 951.3 million levs a year earlier.
The banking sector's net operating income grew to 3.45 billion levs in January-October, from 3.19 billion levs in the corresponding period of 2017.
The banks' total assets increased to 104.2 billion levs at the end of October, from 95.4 billion levs a year earlier.
