November 3 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria will call a tender for the construction of a section of its Trakia motorway, part of pan-European transport Corridor 8, on November 12, Regional Development Minister Rosen Plevneliev said on Tuesday.
Plevneliev addressed the fourth annual meeting of Bulgarian businesses with the government in Sofia.
The Lot 2 tender procedure concerns the construction of 31.8 kliometres of the motorway linking the cities of Stara Zagora and Nova Zagora, the Regional Development Ministry said on its website.
“I hope [construction works on] Lot 2 of the Trakia motorway will be launched by February”, Prime Minister Boiko Borisov told the same meeting.
The Stara Zagora-Nova Zagora section should be completed in the summer of 2012. The ministry has projected the cost of construction works on Lot 2 at 96 million euro.
The construction of the Trakia motorway linking Sofia with Burgas on the Black Sea coast will be financed from the European Union's operational programme “Transport” and should be completed in the autumn of 2012. The construction of Lot 3 and Lot 4, which have a combined length of 83 km, will cost 254 million euro.
