SOFIA (Bulgaria), September 29 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria's energy regulator said it has decided to increase by 0.29% domestic natural gas prices in the last quarter of 2014.
The maximum price which the country's gas monopoly Bulgargaz can charge end-suppliers and customers connected to the gas transmission network in the fourth quarter of the year is 603.44 levs ($394.5/308.5 euro) per 1,000 cubic metres, the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC) said in a notice on its website.
The price at which the country's gas transmission system operator Bulgartransgaz can sell natural gas to customers who are connected to its low pressure network cannot exceed 611.16 levs per 1,000 cubic metres, it added.
The figures do not include value added tax (VAT) and excise duties.
The new tariff will take effect on October 1. It can be appealed within 14 days before the Supreme Administrative Court.
Earlier this month, Bulgargaz said it has proposed to SEWRC to hike wholesale gas prices by an annual 1.59% to 611.23 levs per 1,000 cubic meters in the fourth quarter of the year.
Bulgaria imports almost all the natural gas it needs from Russia through a pipeline crossing the territories of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.
Both Bulgargaz and Bulgartransgaz are subsidiaries of the state-owned Bulgarian Energy Holding.
