May 10 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) said on Wednesday that it launched an 8.3 million levs ($4.65 million/4.24 million euro) tender for the design and construction of a bypass road in the southern town of Rudozem.
The project envisages the construction of a 2.4-kilometre road section between the village of Srednogortsi and Rudozem, along with Rudozem's bypass road, the government agency said in a press release. The contract also includes the construction of a new viaduct over the Chepinska river.
The road is the main connection between the municipality of Rudozem and the Smolyan region. The project will facilitate travel to the future Rudozem-Xanthi border checkpoint with Greece, the RIA added.
The tender is co-financed by the Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 cooperation programme through the European Regional Development Fund and Bulgaria's state budget.
Potential bidders can submit their offers until June 8.
In December, the reconstruction of two sections of the road between Srednogortsi and Rudozem, spanning a total of 7 kilometres, was completed.
