August 19 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's government said on Wednesday that it has allocated 379 million levs ($231.2 million/193.8 million euro) for the modernisation of a 69-kilometre section of the Vidin-Botevgrad road, in northwest Bulgaria.
The 69-kilometre section is located between the Makresh road junction and the bypass road of the town of Montana, the government said in a statement following its weekly meeting.
The project will alleviate heavy traffic from several towns, which will improve road safety. The Vidin-Botevgrad road will also provide a link between the country's Hemus, Trakia and Struma motorways, the government noted.
In addition, the government also decided on Wednesday to allocate some 4 million levs to the budget of Sandanski municipality, which will be used for the reconstruction of a 6-km road section.
