BUCHAREST (Romania), November 24 (SeeNews) – Romanian stocks edged up on Tuesday as turnover jumped, bourse data showed.
The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, was up 1.15% to 4,969.99 points. The BET-FI, which tracks the country's five regional investment funds, the SIFs, added 0.94% to 23,959.61 points.
The composite BET-C index rose 1.29% to 2,870.91. The ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, closed 0.96% higher at 10,338.19.
BVB's turnover surged to 34.1 million lei ($11.9 million/8.0 million euro) from 14.5 million lei on Monday. The number of traded shares rose to 49.5 million from 21.3 million on Monday.
SIF 5 Oltenia closed 1.6% higher at 1.27 lei in the day's largest turnover of 8.8 million lei. SIF 2 Moldova closed unchanged at 1.12 lei on deals worth a total of 5.4 million lei, Tuesday’s second highest turnover. SIF 1 Banat Crisana added 0.88% to 1.14 lei on the regular market in the session’s third largest turnover of 3.2 million lei.
SIF 3 Transilvania inched up 0.73% to 0.69 lei in 2.97 million lei turnover. Blue-chip lender Banca Transilvania was up 2.33% to 2.2 lei in deals worth 2.46 million lei. Austria’s Erste ended flat at 125.5 lei in deals worth 2.35 million lei.
Blue-chip oil and gas group OMV Petrom lost 0.38% to 0.263 lei in 2.15 million lei turnover. The other blue-chip bank, BRD, rose 0.71% to 14.2 lei in 1.6 million lei turnover. SIF 4 Muntenia closed up 1.42% at 0.715 lei in deals worth 1.3 million lei.
The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, ended up 1.21% at 481.66 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, closed 0.92% higher at 628.26 points.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, edged down 0.06% to 2,232.05. Turnover on the RASDAQ jumped to 3.8 million lei from 779,000 lei on Monday.
