November 14 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of insurance companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federation rose 8.2% year-on-year to 511 million marka ($269.7 million/261.3 million euro) in the January-October period, official data showed.
Non-life insurance premiums increased 7% on the year to 400.6 million marka in the period under review, while life insurance premiums went up 12.8% to nearly 110.4 million marka, according to figures posted on the website of the Federation’s insurance supervision agency.
Adriatic Osiguranje was the top insurer in the non-life segment with GWPs of 56 million marka in the January-October period, up from 51.8 million marka a year earlier. It was followed by Sarajevo Osiguranje and Euroherc Osiguranje, with premiums of 51.7 million marka and 51.1 million marka, respectively.
In the life insurance segment, Sarajevo-based Grawe Osiguranje ranked first with 25.9 million marka in premiums in January-October, up from 24.1 million marka in the same period of 2021. It was followed by Uniqa Osiguranje and Vienna Osiguranje, with life premiums of 24.2 million marka and 23.5 million marka, respectively.
At the end of October, 20 insurance companies operated in Bosnia’s Federation.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
