April 12 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of insurance companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federation rose 12.3% year-on-year to 179.1 million marka ($97.8 million/91.6 million euro) in the first three months of the year, official data showed on Friday.
Non-life insurance premiums increased 15.5% on the year to 143.3 million marka in the January-March period, while life insurance premiums went up 1.1% to 35.8 million marka, according to figures posted on the website of the Federation’s insurance supervision agency.
ASA Central Osiguranje was the top insurer in the non-life segment with gross written premiums of 24.7 million marka in the first three months, up from 19.6 million marka a year earlier. It was followed by Adriatic Osiguranje and Euroherc Osiguranje, with premiums of 20 million marka and 18.2 million marka, respectively.
In the life insurance segment, Grawe Osiguranje ranked first with 8.3 million marka in premiums in January-March, down from 8.5 million marka in the same period of 2023. It was followed by Vienna Osiguranje and Uniqa Osiguranje, with life premiums of 7.8 million marka and 7.2 million marka, respectively.
At the end of March, 19 insurance companies operated in Bosnia’s Federation.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
