SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), December 7 (SeeNews) – Bosnia’s BH Telecom, the country's largest, sees its profit for the current year unchanged from last year’s 160 million marka ($121 million/82 million euro), local media reported.
BH Telecom Director General Nedzad Residbegovic said that although the company's total revenue will be lower than last year, the excellent results achieved in the second half of 2009 were a reason for optimism, daily Dnevni Avaz (www.dnevni avaz.ba) reported.
The newspaper did not elaborate whether Residbegovic referred to net or gross profit.
Residbegovic said a consolidation within BH Telecom was a reason for the fall in revenue together with negative market trends and price caps imposed by the telecoms regulator, which the company compensated by offering ADSL and other broadband services.
State-controlled BH Telecom is the largest of the three telecoms operating in post-war Bosnia, which comprises a Muslim-Croat Federation and a Serb Republic. The other two Bosnian telecoms are HT Mostar, which is active in the Federation, and Telekom Srpske which operates in the Serb Republic.
