July 8 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's road company Autoceste FBiH said the works on the Svilaj bridge over the Sava river at the border with Croatia, part of European transport Corridor V, are over 80% completed.
The bridge situated in the Svilaj – Odzak motorway section of the transport corridor is 640 metres long and 29 metres wide, with three tracks in each direction, Autoceste FBiH said in a statement on Friday.
The section includes four overpasses, three underpasses, three wild animals passages, two loops and two bridges.
Construction costs amounted to 69.2 million euro ($77.7 million), VAT included. They were financed through loans from the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a grant by the Western Balkans Investment Framework and Autoceste FBiH's own funds.
Works were carried out by Austria's Strabag and Bosnia's Euro Asfalt and ZGP. Spanish Aecom Inocsa S.L.U. acted as a consultant.
The Svilaj-Odzak motorway section will connect Bosnia to Croatia once the Svilaj bridge over the Sava river is completed. The construction of the bridge began in September 2016.
Corridor Vc connects Croatia's Adriatic port of Ploce with Budapest in Hungary via Bosnia.
