December 14 (SeeNews) - Two workers sustained burns in an explosion at a water treatment plant in the town of Zrenjanin, in northern Serbia, the government said on Monday.
The blast took place at 05:00 CET on Monday during water chlorination, the government said in a statement.
Following the accident, water supply in the city was halted, Fabrika Vode, the operator of the plant, said in a separate statement on Monday.
A 65% stake in the capital of Fabrika Vode is owned by Serbian company SAR d.o.o., controlled by Israeli company Rimon Consulting and Management Company, as well as Israeli citizens Assaf Dotan, Meir Avital and Ohad Shabtay Avital. Serbian company Synertech holds a 20% stake in Fabrika Vode, 10% is controlled by Denmark-based company Liqtech, and 5% by Serbian citizen Oliver Zevedji.
